How can I print other file formats?

Preview (an Apple-supplied standard app) can read many different formats, and then save them as PDF files.  Use "Save As..." from the "File" menu, and choose "Format: PDF". 

Alternatively, it is possible to create a PDF file from any application that can print using the standard "Print..." panel.  From the "Print..." panel, simply press the "PDF" button, choose "Save as PDF..".

Why do I need to include a bunch of blank rows when creating a banner?

Mindcad Tiler fits the entire PDF page onto the selected number of rows and columns.  If the PDF page itself has lots of blank space, so too will the printed poster. 

This can be confusing when creating a banner, because the original PDF page often contains lots of blank space both above and below the banner text. 

The best approach is to crop the original page before printing to eliminate the blank space, but it is also possible to go ahead and add the extra rows required to print the blank space, and then recycle the empty pages.
